The Chosen is a spectacular, faith-based, multi-season television series based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and focused on unifying people of different faiths and backgrounds. The disciples who Jesus chose, tell us about their interactions with Him in a beautiful and believably way; through their eyes and how they were so greatly impacted.
St. Joseph’s will be hosting these bible studies at the Parish Center accompanied with a light meal. We will watch one episode of Season 1 each week, following by a fruitful discussion. What makes The Chosen even more exciting is our very own parishioner Dwight Ettel is an extra in Season 3 - Feeding of the 5000 (see picture below)! Dwight will lead the bible studies for this very awe-inspiring portrayal of the life of Jesus. An associated study guide will also be used to foster fruitful discussions. Sign up today!

Episode 1: I Have Called You By Name Round Table Discussion October 26 / 27 Simon and his brother struggle with their tax debts to Matthew, a tax collector for Rome while Nicodemus attempts and fails at an exorcism on Mary of Magdalia.
Then Jesus comes along to free Mary from her demons.
Episode 2: Shabbat November 2 / 3 The episode starts with a clip of an Old Testament Shabbat dinner.
The Pharisees become aware of Mary’s healing and Nicodemus offers to investigate.
Matthew and his Roman protector Gaias validate Simon's claims with Praetor Quintus,
Simon and his brother Andrew contemplate turning in other fisherman to fix his problem with Rome. Matthew attempts and fails to visit his family. Mary receives multiple guests and Jesus at her Shabbat dinner while Nicodemus host a dinner for other Pharisees.
Episode 3 - Jesus Loves the Little Children November 9 / 10 Jesus befriends and teaches the group of children who discover His camp on the outskirts of Capernaum. We see a very human side Jesus as He prays and works.
Episode 4 - The Rock on Which it is Built November 16 / 17 Simon his brother Andrew meet with James, John and their Father Zebedee to discuss options. Quietus assigns Matthew to spy on Simon. The Pharisees become aware /interested in John the Baptist and Nicodemus questions him in prison. Simon’s wife’s brothers bring their sick mother to live with Simon. He and Andrew spend one last night fishing in a desperate attempt to square his debts. Jesus appears at the shore and causes the net to be filled to overflowing, then calls Simon, Andrew, James and John.
Episode 5 -The Wedding Gift November 30 / December 1 The episode starts when Jesus was 12 and “lost” in the temple, with the Blessed Mother Mary and Joseph. We jump ahead to see The Blessed Mother arriving in Cana to help her friend prepare for a wedding. Nicodemus questions John the Baptist about his mission and miracles. Simon has a heart to heart with his wife. We meet Ramah and Thomas as the caterers. Apostles (James & John, Simon & Andrew, young James & Thaddeus) and Mary Magdela gather and travel to Canna with Jesus. After the wine runs out the Blessed Mary asks Jesus to perform a miracle taking His mission public.
Afterwards He asks Thomas to join him.
Episode 6 - Indescribably Compassion December 7 / 8 Matthew and Giaus guard the proceeds from the sale of Simons miracle catch.
Nicodemus reports back dismissing John the Baptist as a rouge to be ignored. Shmuel his former student disagrees. After witnessing the healing of a leper on the road to Capernaum, a woman forces her paralytic friend through the crowd to meet Jesus, who heals him as Shemuel, Nicodemus and Matthew watch.
Episode 7 - Invitations January 4 CANCELLED Rescheduled for January 11 January 5 (Still On) Episode opens with Mosses, Joshua and the bronze serpent. Matthew struggles to reconcile the miracles he has witnessed with reality. Nicodemus meets with Jesus by night. John the Evangelist records (jn3:16). Jesus calls Matthew and Simon objects.
Episode 8 - I Am He Thursday January 12 / Wednesday, January 18 Opens with Jacob and his sons digging a well about 2000 years prior. Woman at well (Photina) draws water. Matthew hosts dinner party and Pharisee Yussif objects.
Jesus heals Simon mother-in-law. Jesus and His students complete their preparations and leave Capernaum for Samaria. Giaus visits Matthews parents. Jesus meets with a suffering woman at Jacob's Well and announces that He is the Messiah.
