ABOUT FATHER MALEK
Fr. Matthew Malek is a priest and an Associate Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and completed his graduate program at St. Mary’s University School of Graduate Professional Psychology in Minneapolis. He enjoys working with adults, young adults and children as clients. Matthew enjoys working with those confronting multi-faceted challenges with life transition, addictions, trauma issues and relational dynamics. Matthew also functions as a Roman Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of St Paul-Minneapolis, so his approach embraces spirituality, mindfulness and holistic-health perspectives. He has worked in several integrated care settings, including community-based mental health and hospitals. He also integrates his previous experiences as a career consultant and as an educator into counseling, as well as over 20 years of being in recovery communities.
Fr. Matthew’s counseling approach draws from a variety of proven therapeutic regimens, including narrative therapy, as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-focused skills work. He is also experienced in working with mental health diagnoses such as depression and anxiety, trauma-related disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, grief and bereavement, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, thought disorder, and institutional trauma-betrayal.
